Places To Shop?

Wednesday 26 January 2011 ·

Heres a quick question for you this evening.

We all like to try out new ways to follow our gratest hobby but some times we struggle to get hold of the models and rules sets that we want to try.

How do you my faithful readers get hold of products that you cant buy at the local hobby store? where do you shop? is it online? would you prefer to be able to walk into a local store and buy what you want?

The floor is yours how do you shop and what would be your ideal.

Thanks

GrimJaw

In these times I find it alot easier to shop online, tho not when its snowing hard lol.
However I think that even tho this is an easier option, kids nowadays are missing out on what shops could offer. I still have great memories of when I was a kid going to town and popping into the only model shop to have alook at the new models on display. Its one of the things GW have got right in their shops, the ability to see and touch (sometimes) the latest models or codexes.
Online shopping is great if you know what your after, but it alot harder to judge if your just window shopping. At a shop you might find something that you've been after for ages on the bottom shelf hidden away. Just blow the dust off and you have found a bargin. No chance of that happening online.

I get a lot of stuff online, even direct from GW sometimes with the free and reliable postage only costs a little bit more sometimes and you know you will get it quick...

But I would reccomend a trip to Hobbycraft to anyone... there is so much modeling stuff and materials- its awesome!

Id like to see a good hobby store in hull something that sells a range of different products, most of which you cant get at the moment in the north east. How do you feel about having something like this in Hull. The traditional wargames hobby store?

@ anonyumous, I reckon Hobbycraft and that model zone in St Stevens has it covered really - and dare I say GW... a discount store, would be bloomin ace though.

@ Shane, Hobby craft is my second home, I love the smell of the place as well!

sorry for double post:

If there were a hobby store attached to Hulls angels I would probably just use that to be honest as its easy. That would be my ideal. I dont think it would take to long to get quite a large customer base either.

A good wargaming / roleplaying store is something we really lack in hull, I know I'd stop using the internet for my gaming needs if we had somewhere local (and competitively priced ;P )

I shop online, these days from Blue Boar mainly, though ebay too for deals and bits.

However, i do still use GW for some items as I think its important to try and support your local store!
